The Great Wall of China

The most famous finished construction of China is the Great Wall of China. This fortification of stone and earth starts at the sea in Shang Hai Chuan, in the eastern province of Hebei, and stretches until Jia Yu Guan in the Gobi desert in the western province of Gansu.
The Great Wall of China wasn’t built as a single project. The oldest part of the wall dates from the 7th century B.C. This immense project was completed around 1500 A.D. The length of the Wall cannot be determined. The Chinese call it “The wall of 10.000 Li (1 Li is 500 meters). If so, it would mean that the wall is 5000 kilometers long. The Great Wall is not a long single wall; it’s actually a collection of different parts.
